He used a similar campaign to help fund and launch his spot on South Main Street. “We can raise much-needed funds to build out our truck and strengthen our business model, and our customers get to directly participate while also gaining access to exclusive rewards.”Īnd Smith would know. “Using Kickstarter makes it a win-win for both us and our customers,” he says. Smith says he needs to have a pledge of $25,000 to reach his end goal for the campaign to be deemed successful a goal he says he’s not worried about reaching. These include beignets for all of 2024, exclusive merchandise, and even food truck block parties. To help boost this plan, Dusty Biscuit Beignets is using the popular Kickstarter platform to get the dough rolling, which includes rewards for backers. ![]() ![]() “While we try to honor requests by doing pop-up events, we are overdue for going mobile and bringing the beignets to the people.” “Since 2020, we get weekly requests for us to come to events in a food truck,” Smith says in a release. However, he is reaching out to all of us sweet tooths to help him make this idea a reality. Starting this week, Smith announced he will be bringing his funky fried sugar bread to the masses via a new food truck - amply named the Sugar Bread Express. However, customers would always ask him when he might roll back around to some of their favorite haunts after opening this spot. The irony of this is when Smith opened his café, he ditched his Air Stream and rented food trucks to focus on his new locale. So much so that he was able to open a brick-and-mortar café on the Near Southside of town at 411 S. Shows like this make any music fan really appreciate what great artistry is and in this case, absolutely a must-see.When Dusty Biscuit Beignets’ founder, Trey Smith, started his “sugar bread” side hustle in 2019, he was given an outstanding amount of support from the local sweet tooth community. ![]() The band followed with a few more numbers leaving the audience breathless. While most drum solos are not that interesting, Phillips’ was particularly interesting and demanded the audience pay attention. He shifts time signatures, tempos, and rhythms so effortlessly it is beyond imagination. But the star was absolutely Phillips, who showed why he is considered one of the best drummers in the world. Guitarist Greg Howe got the bulk of the feature moments being in front. Tracks like the tribal “Passage to Agra”, and the ballad “Phantom Voyage” were played with precision as each member showcased his talents. Within this setting, Phillips and his band made up of guitarist Greg Howe, bassist Ernest Tibbs, and keyboardist Otmaro Ruiz, tore the house down with a great set of prog-jazz-fusion. The venue has great ambiance, phenomenal acoustics and great food. Such was the case when veteran drumming legend Simon Phillips brought his Protocol project to Boca Raton, Florida and a fantastic venue called The Funky Biscuit. But one of the treats a true music fan does not get to experience enough is that of a truly great group of musicians playing in an intimate setting and blowing minds with their virtuosity. Big arena shows are a great experience with all the lights, explosions, and hysteria. ![]()
